Taylor and I met in April 2010. Kaylee, Taylor's cousin and my former mission companion, roommate and best friend tried to set us up on a date at the end of Winter Semester. But, it happened to be the same weekend that I was going on vacation with my family. Taylor went out with my roommate Amanda instead. So, when I came back up to Rexburg, the Sunday before Spring semester started, Kaylee and Amanda had invited Taylor and his friend Ryan over for games. We all played 'Scum' and 'Apples to Apples.' If any of you know Taylor, you know that he is way competitive and always figures out a way to win games. It ticked me off then, and still ticks me off now. I never win, except for when he feels bad and helps me cheat. Anyways, I thought Taylor was pretty cute and later that week I told Kaylee, so we hung out again later that week. A big group of us rode Segways and just hung out. A pretty funny story came from this. I asked Taylor where he was living, and he said, "Oh, just with my married roommates." I thought he meant that he lived with some friends who were married or something. I came to find out that he meant his parents, Jill and Vince. Ha ha.
Taylor took me out a few weeks later, thanks to Aunt Ann and Kaylee. On our first date we ate at Burger King and went to the drive-in movies in Idaho Falls to see Robin Hood. How romantic huh?! I had such a blast. I remember driving in the truck and just laughing my head off at Taylor. He is so funny and witty, he can make me laugh whenever he wants. We were both very up front and honest from the beginning. He is such a gentlemen and he treats me like a queen. So, the story goes that I pulled the moves on Taylor on our first date- but I guess it depends on who you ask. We continued to hang out. We loved (and still love) going to an arcade in Rexburg called the Craze. We kick trash at some of the games. We, with the help of Kaylee and other friends won a sweet guitar clock/neon light thing that cost 5,000 tickets.
The night that I decided that I really liked Taylor was when we were driving around in my car and swapping stories. We started talking about our missions and Taylor told me some incredible experiences he had on his mission. I remember him telling me over and over how much he just loved his mission and how it changed his life. I was so impressed with his testimony and compassion. I fell in love with the kid. That night I went home and told Kaylee that I was going to marry that boy.
