Wyatt Michael Wray

We welcomed a new baby into our family this week! Wyatt Michael Wray, born August 28th, 2013 at 2:08 pm. 6 lbs. 8 oz, 20 1/2" long.

It was a wonderful experience and I always have to make myself write it down asap, so I don't forget anything. My official due date was Tuesday, August 27th, and we had an appointment to be induced Wednesday the 28th. Tuesday was a big day, Taylor and I woke up early to go to the Temple. We hadn't been in a while and were anxious to see the new film. Thanks to Darb for watching Al (again!). It was an amazing experience and we are so grateful to have a Temple close by. Then I went to the zoo with my SIL's Darby and Rachael and all of the kids. Anyways, Taylor and Mikey have school Monday and Tuesday nights so Darb and I have been getting together those nights for dinner. We were at Darby's house and I was feeling a little off. I just figured it was because I was anxious for the next day and really tired. So Al and I went home and got to bed. Around 1 am I woke up with some pretty sudden contractions. It was exciting because I didn't think I would ever start at all on my own. They were about every 8-10 min. all night so I called the Dr. in the morning and asked if I should come in now or wait until our appointment at 9:30. They said to wait as long as I could take it or call back at 8:30. We got all ready to go and dropped Al off at Darby's. We took our time heading to the hospital, and stopped to get a smoothie. The traffic was terrible, so I'm glad I wasn't very progressed because it would have stressed me out. We got to the hospital around 9 and they admitted me right away. They decided to just go ahead and put me on pitocin to get things moving along. We had an awesome Labor and Delivery nurse, Cassie, even though when she was putting my IV in, she had to do it twice and I almost passed out. That was probably the worst part of the whole thing for me, cause I'm such a wuss about needles and stuff. So the pitocin was started at 10:30 in the highest dose and my nurse asked if I wanted the epidural yet and I said to hold off because I am a retard. Holy heck the contractions got super strong really fast and it took me 2 seconds to call her back in. The anasesiologist came in right away and they put it right in. With Al, the right side didn't work, and this time, the left side didn't. At this point I was at a 6 and feeling everything on the left side, but thankfully he came back in and did his thing to get it working. And that was just amazing. Right at that same time my Mom got here and they came into break my water. From here I progressed super fast. They checked me once and called my Dr. in. It was quite the party in there with all of the med students, nurses and a lady doing a research study (that we got a huge free pack of diapers for doing). Dr. Rodriguez came down and she said I was ready to push. I was surprised that I was ready, because I didn't feel a ton a pressure yet. I pushed through one set of contractions, 3 times, and the half of the next set 2 times when the little guy came right out. Taylor cut the cord, which was wrapped around the baby's neck 2 times and had a true knot in it. It was a little scary, because that rarely happens and can cause problems, but we were so blessed that he was just perfect. They put him right on me and I just couldn't believe that this little guy was already here. I love giving birth and enjoyed the whole experience. While he was lying on me his huge eyes opened and I knew right away that his name should be Wyatt.

They cleaned him up and got him all checked out while they were getting everything else done on me. I was so grateful that everything went well and that we decided to be induced instead of waiting to go on my own.

Our hospital stay was great, we had amazing doctors and nurses and are so grateful for medical technology and insurance. We had a lot of family and friends visit. Proud Grandma-this is #17 grandbaby and #11 grandson.
Darby brought Al and Lilly to visit Wednesday afternoon. We had bought a toy to give to Al from Wyatt, and since he is obsessed with Toy Story, we bought him a Buzz and Woody toy. He kept saying "Thank you baby." I was worried that he wouldn't want me, but he climbed right on the bed and sat with me almost the whole time they were there. He didn't react to much about the baby but he did give him loves and was sweet to him.

He was saying nose, nose.

Just checking him out

First family of four pic!

I love my sweet little Al

These two are quite the pair. They have had so much fun being together the past few days. Thanks so much to Darby and my Mom for watching Al.

Rachael was working at Huntsman, so she stopped by to see us.

Uncle Matt came after class...

The next morning Sam and Jess came and brought Rock and Neil.

My Dad and Mikey came too, but we forgot to take pictures.

Rach brought Jacks. We figured out that Jacks is exactly between Al and Wyatt.

Shauna brought Rose, Clark and Wesley too, but again we didn't take pictures. It was so fun to have visitors. We were able to skype with Taylors family so they could see the baby. I had Tay take a picture here because Wyatt kept smiling, but you can't see it now...

I took a few pics of him while he was wide awake one afternoon.

Snuggling with Daddy. The nurse kept trying to get Taylor to do skin to skin. Ha ha he said you mean, "skin to hair?"

Love this picture:)

We were able to come home from the hospital Friday morning, my mom was here with Al. It was fun to hang out with our little family for a little bit before my mom took him down to Alpine. We miss Al so much but are so grateful to have this time to heal, get rest and get used to having a newborn again. Taylor has been so helpful and I love seeing him snuggle the baby. He is so good with babies and I am so grateful for that.
